The Anatomy Of The Perfect Stag Do

by Jessica Amey

What does the perfect stag do look like to you? That’s the topic that we address in this guide. We take a look at all of the things you want to include to have the best time before you tie the knot. Here’s everything you need to know.

Consult the groom
The first thing you want to do is consult the groom. Ask them what they’re expecting and what they want to do. Some grooms like to go for hikes in nature, while others prefer burlesque performances.

If you know the groom well, which you should, if you’re the best man or one of the groomsmen, then you’ll have an instinct for what they’ll want to do. Remember it’s supposed to be a party celebrating the last night of freedom.

Set the date early
Next you’ll want to set the date early in the calendar so that everyone can make it. While the groom might be available, other people may have plans, so you’ll want to book as far as you can in advance. We suggest aiming 1-3 months before the wedding. If you can do that, then you’ll give everyone the time they need to recover and get prepared for future plans. Plus it will be a great team-building exercise for all the groomsmen and the best man.

Choose the right location
The next thing you want to do is choose the right location. Ideally, you’ll pick a party hotspot, but again, something that suits the personality of the groom is better than just something that’s traditional. For example, a lot of people in places like Britain go to Newcastle and Bournemouth, or in the US they go to Las Vegas or party hotspots like Ibiza. However, the groom may want a different type of experience, so it’s worth considering this and bearing this in mind.

A stag do, for example, can be something as simple as a camping trip. It doesn’t have to be expensive or involve a lot of alcohol.

Sort out the activities
Another thing you’ll want to do is consider the activities that you’ll enjoy. Just sitting around having a drink probably isn’t everyone’s idea of a fun stag do. For example, you could go quad biking or to paintball, or you could go go-karting or try escape rooms. If you want something that’s more classic, then golf or whisky tasting are great ideas. You could also go canoeing, and then in the evening, you can go on pub and bar crawls and try to get into fancy clubs, especially if you go as a group on a stag do.

Make sure if it’s more than a single evening that you balance it out, mixing high-energy activities with more relaxing things, including downtime. You could also enjoy pranks together, but make sure that you don’t annoy each other.

So there you have it – some ideas for having the perfect stag do. We hope you enjoyed them. Make sure you try at least two of them for your next party.
