Why You Should Choose Metallics for Your Decor

by Jessica Amey

Have you ever considered that metallics could elevate your living space? When you consider your decor options for your home, metallic details could take things to the next level. If you’re bored of the grey theme and the beige is going out the window, you still want to stay subtle, but metallics can help to draw the eye and bring a touch of luxury to your spaces.

From luxury gold coffee tables in the lounge and dining space to gold fixtures in the bathrooms, metallics can change the humdrum to hell-OH! So, with that in mind, here’s why you should consider metallics for your decor choices.

  1. You can really hone in on the details. When it comes to metallics, you want them to be the small details in the room, not the overall feature. So for example, you wouldn’t have a crushed metallic gold couch if you can avoid that because it can look pretty tacky. The metallic items that you choose should be all in the features, such as the legs of your table or the fixtures in the doors. Every room can benefit from touches of metallic elements, but it’s these touches that are as simple as they can be to be accessorized or to be the joinery detailing and specialty wall finishes. It doesn’t have to be big and in your face because you want to embrace subtlety in order to find luxury.

  2. You can create a feature wall. Metallic tiles in a bathroom or a kitchen can add some complexity and drama to a room. They can feature everywhere from the shower niches to the bathroom splashbacks to table tops. Feature walls with metallics can come in a variety of types, and you can include tiles that like mosaics, which are often a favorite for those who want to have small touches that have an impact.

  3. They really reflect the light. If you have a small living space, metallics can make a difference when it comes to light reflection. If the surfaces in your home are flat, the room can really lack the life that you’re looking for. A metallic surface gives you that flat and shiny in between. It’s important to ensure that you contain your metallic surfaces to one common item, such as a wall or a piece of furniture. You don’t want to overload the metal look, but you also don’t want it to be too reflective.

  4. Metals are trending. Brass is king of everything but Chrome, silver and gold touches are still trending right now. Copper and rose gold are quite dated and best avoided if you’re looking for something timeless.you might love bling but don’t go too heavy with it because a little really can go a long way.

Take your time to choose metallics for your decor. This isn’t something you should do to overload the space, and it shouldn’t be the singular material in mind.
