Cardboard Crafts: Make A Swimming Pool For Dolls

by Jessica Amey

This swimming pool for dolls has been made with an old cardboard box which I let Cherry loose on decorating.

She is really into playing with dolls at the moment and I resent paying a small fortune for the plastic play sets you can buy so thought it would be much better to make one.

You will need:
– A Cardboard Box
– Crepe Paper
– Glitter
– PVA Glue
– Paper
– Mod Podge (or just use more of the PVA glue)
– Paint
– Extra Cardboard (for sunbeds)
– Washi Tape (for sunbeds)

I cut the top off the cardboard box then we used PVA glue to stick blue crepe paper in the middle and up the sides before adding a layer of blue and green glitter to make it look like the water was glistening.

When it was dry I added a coat of Mod Podge to seal all the glitter and make it a bit more durable (you could also use the PVA glue).

Then I stuck some paper around the outside and let Cherry decorate it with acrylic paint.

I made the sunbeds by folding up some cardboard and covering in washi tape. I added a bit of washi tape to hold them in the sitting up position.

This cardboard swimming pool play set has been played with for hours and it cost next to nothing to make!

And as you can see the dolls had a great day playing in it 😉

I love crafting with cardboard. We usually have lots of it lying around and it’s nice to use it up instead of throwing it away.

There are endless crafts for kids you can do with it too.
